True breakthroughs in the way lingerie is worn and constructed are few and far between, but when they do, they smash through culture, technology, and comfort. First to go were corsets made from anything from whale bones to iron that either smashed you flat or shoved you into into an hourglass figure. Then went the hot, itchy fabrics and eventually bras threatened to disappear altogether in a giant woman's liberation bonfire. Of course, that never happened and here we are again at another bra breakthrough.

For any lady out there who is bigger that a A, this backless bra from Maidenform will open up a world of comfortable summer dressing. I rarely go backless because, much to my chagrin, I have a pretty decent sized rack. The occasional perfect dress can persuade me to go bra-less for a few hours here and there, but this bra takes out comfort and decency issues with a full bra attached to it's ingenious straps. I can't wait for summer. Well, that's a given, but I'll be a little more prepared.
