Morgan, revisited.
I was thinking about Kristen Ann's birthday last week and wanted to give Morg's outfit a little more attention. Everyone had fun and looked great- Kris in a dress she had to wear as a top because she is so tall, and me in a top I wore as a dress because I am so short- but Morgan has a particularly spectacular dress on. A lesson in doing vintage right.

Everyone should have a couple little black dresses in their closet- a straight, functional shift for work and funerals, a short and tight little number for date night, and a couple fun cocktail dresses in various degrees of spangle and sparkle. This dress falls into the last category.
Vintage clothes are the hardest to wear and the best looks if you can pull it off. Morgan hits the nail on the head being classic, not costume-y. The fit is modern and the details look quality and chic, not retro. This dress riffs on the fringe and ruffling of this year, while clearly being a one-of-a-kind find.

While wearing a great vintage piece, you always run the risk of looking dated while knowing that you won't look like anyone else in the room. Avoid the pitfalls by keeping the accessories, hair, and makeup current. Morgs simple braids, easy watch and Marc by Marc wristlet stay in the background- letting the dress only have to compete with and compliment her shoes. The flat sandals temper the fanciness of the dress and the shiny, graphic lines give an edge to otherwise demure dress.

Well played, Morgan.
